Teaching
My primary teaching area is sculpture (three-dimensional design), with secondary specializations in material studies and digital fabrication.
My CV and Teaching Portfolio are available below.
Each link will open a PDF document.
My Teaching Portfolio highlights student work from projects that use traditional media and methods, such as clay and wood, and current media and techniques, like plastics and digital fabrication, all interwoven with concept development. The assignment and project descriptions in the PDF present how I scaffold skill development and form links to other areas of study. Many of my students have been stepping into a studio or shop environment for the first time. Through hands-on experiential learning in the classroom, my goal is to foster students' curiosity and support their individual growth.
To achieve an immersive, hands-on experience for students in the classroom, I work extensively outside of class on designing and building instructional materials. Below is an example of how I design introductory (technique-based) studio classes; the link will open an abbreviated PDF document of the class materials I created for an introductory sculpture class focused on woodworking techniques.
