My Teaching Portfolio showcases student work alongside assignment and project descriptions that illustrate how I scaffold skill development into larger, complex projects. Designing assignments and projects that seamlessly integrate technical skills, concept development, and contextual understanding is a defining attribute of my teaching.
I am deeply invested in training new and advanced makers in technical processes and materials (the 'how-to') and connecting their active making to broader ideas and concepts (the 'why'). Within my classes, I shape a studio culture of critical inquiry, reflection, and exuberant experimentation. Through hands-on experiential learning in the classroom, my goal is to foster students' curiosity and support their individual growth.
To provide students in the classroom with an immersive, hands-on experience, I work extensively outside of class on designing and building instructional materials. Below are examples of how I design introductory and intermediate (technique-based) studio classes; each link opens a PDF.
